Upson's first novel is this elegant and original historical bibliomystery set in England in 1934 and featuring, in addition to Detective Inspector Archie Penrose, one of the great mystery writers of the 20th century, Josephine Tey. Tey, traveling from Scotland to London by train for the last week of her play, "Richard of Bordeaux," befriends a young woman during the train ride and then arrives in London to discover the woman has been murdered. A remainder mark on the bottom edge of the text, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square.
