New York: Oxford University Press, 1971. This quality BOMC edition is in Fine, unread condition, with a Near Fine dust jacket that shows light rubbing and shelf wear. I've placed the dust jacket into an archival Brodart protective sleeve. This renowed admiral, historian, and author provides a brilliant account of all known voyages across the North Atlantic to the New World prior to 1600, including those by Leif Ericsson, John Cabot, Verrazzano, Gomez, Jacques Cartier, Martin Frobisher, John Davis, Sir Walter Raleigh, Grenville and Gilbert, and many more. The book is bound is light brown cloth with a deep gray-blue spine cloth, and gilt spine titles. The book meassures 6 1/4 by 9 1/4 inches and includes 712 pages, with Index. Many black-and-white illustrations and maps are included, as well as a color frontis.. Hard Cover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
