Marbled hardcover with embossed spine and gilt lettering; inside covers, FFEP and BFEP have marbled design; pages slightly mottled; page 23 folded in at top outside corner; all pages intact; 563 pages. very good/none. This book is printed in French, and according to Jean Eileen Luck in her thesis, "the publication of the Etudes in 1784 established him as a serious student of the natural world." (Luck, Eileen Jean, Science and Knowledge in Bernardin de Saint-Pierre's Etudes de la nature (1784), January 2013).
