Engraved title-page (drapery held by cupids in front of a column on which another cupid writes: Drawn and engraved by Queverdo). 2 folding engraved calendars. 12 engraved copper plates bearing the names of the months of the year at the top and the following legends at the bottom: Janvier, La bonne année sans politique. Février, Le Seigneur bienfaisant. Mars, Les Rivaux blessés. Avril, La Dame bienfaisante. Mai, Le Mai ou la fête de la dame du château. Juin, La Rosière ou le prix de la vertu. Juillet, L'Incendie. Août, La Récompense du bon cultivateur. Septembre, Braconnier. Octobre, Les Vendanges. Novembre, La double récompense. Décembre, Le Retour du mari. Text composed of songs whose title is the same as the legend of each engraving. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Inner gilt dentelles. 1789 remarks for the present year pasted onto verso of title. 10 blank leaves at rear. 65 x 100 mm. Contemporary burgundy morocco (slightly rubbed, corners worn, small dark stain on lower cover). Spine with gilt floral tooling within double fillet gilt borders; contrasting green morocco titling-piece with gilt lettering (slightly chipped). Triple fillet gilt borders. Small, very scarce almanac conceived in the sentimental tone so fashionable then. Not in Bondy, nor Spielmann nor Welsh. Grand-Carteret, 770.
