A copy with a dedication from the author. In Ukrainian. A rare edition published by the Jubilee Committee for the modest celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Brest Union in Lvov. Professor Matveev began to collect materials for the book, but did not finish it, but handed over the completion of the work to Dorozhinsky. Dionysius Dorozhinsky (1866-1930) - priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, theologian, church and educational and cultural figure. The author of the preface Alexei Ivanovich Toronsky (1838-1901) was a Galician-Russian historian. Brest Church Union (1596) - the council of a number of bishops of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Constantinople Orthodox Church, headed by Metropolitan Mikhail Rogoza, to accept the Catholic doctrine and become subordinate to the Pope while maintaining Byzantine liturgical tradition in Church Slavonic.
