Very Good/fair. 304pp, rust cloth cover with gilt lettering and illustration on cover, gilt lettering on spine. 9" x 12". ffep detached at top four inches and professionally repaired. lower left corner on back cover bumped and crimped. DJ has missing sections on lower front and back but lettering and photo illustration complete (see photo). Introductory text in Spanish followed by 304 black and white photos 6.25" x 8". Last photo page (303-4) is detached from binding but complete and still connected with cloth of spine. Unmarked pages with all photos intact and in pristine condition.
Kurt Hielscher (born 1881 in Striegau , Silesia; died 1948 in Lichtenstein in Saxony) was a German photographer. He traveled in the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s throughout parts of Europe and was the author of several successful books with landscape and architectural photos. These exquisite photos are beautifully composed and show the Spain of the past and include churches, buildings, bridges, castles, landscapes and street scenes with captions in five languages. A rare and beautiful collection of photographs.
