About This Item

New York, NY: John Lane: The Bodley Head, 1902. First American edition. Hardcover. Good. Esoteric Christianity explored the notion of prediction promoted by Besant andLeadbeater concerning Krishnamurti‟s role as world savoir or teacher whose coming the Theosophists had predicted. It was their adaptation of an esotericinterpretation of extra-biblical and biblical eschatologies. It is also a manual of practices reflecting two elements that pervade Krishnamurti‟s teachings: the element of esoteric Christianity within the framework of the Path of Initiation that had been his training under Besant andLeadbeater; and second, an occult practice that was a secret teaching of the Path of Initiation intended to bring about a directconsciousness of one‟s divinity and the shortening of one‟s cycle ofincarnations.
