New York: M. Doolady, Publisher, 1866. 366 pages. Bound in brown cloth, blindstamped with a design and lines on boards, titling in gilt much faded but still discernable on spine, indicates "College Library" series. Corners are worn round, cloth scuffed, splitting along spine, paint at heel of spine and bottom edge. Brown chalky endpapers, with contemporary name and city in quite amazing Victorian decorative calligraphy on ffep, and 1970s bookplate on pastedown. Binding is quite firm, almost tight, in good+ condition with hinges intact, although slanted; some pages foxed/ lightly soiled and all moderately age-toned; half-title page and rear free endpaper missing. Overall quite a serviceable copy, and a very early American printing (although preceded by the edition published by W. I. Pooley, NY).. Hard Cover. Fair. 5 x 7.5 in. (12.5cm x 19cm).
