He was the son of the hatter Thomas Sharp, whose shop has been depicted with the 'Peeping Tom' character in the window in an engraving after Thomas Rowlandson produced to commemorate Lady Godiva's ride through the city. 'Peeping Tom' was first recorded in the Coventry city accounts in 1773 and the Sharps had a reconstruction of the Peeping Tom in their house as their shop was known to be the residence of this historical individual. Sharp penned many topographial works relating to Warwickshire.This work is arranged in an alphabetical order and looks at various parishes and towns in the county. This includes Aston Cantlow, Bishops Itchington, Claverdon, Compton Murdack, Marton and more. In the publisher's original cloth binding.
