About This Item
Venice: Vincentium Valgrisium et haeredes Baldassari Constantini, 1558. First Edition. Hardcover (Vellum). Very Good Condition. ca 18th century 1/4 vellum over marbled boards. Wear to edgs of first few pages with neat repairs to the corner of the title and 2 following leaves. Dampstain at rear with damage to the final leaf and old manuscript added to correct the loss of text.
Scarce and finely printed collection of astronomical tables for 1558-1577. Unlike many 16th century Ephemerides, Carello provides a long introduction and discussion preceding the tables. Each year with a separate half title. Not in Adams. An interesting period in the development of ephemerides as Copernican theories began to overtake the Ptolemaic and Alfonsine view. Carello here, holds onto the Alfonsine system. Size: Quarto (4to). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Science & Technology; Antiquarian & Rare. Inventory No: 044636.
