Very good. 6 vols. 28 x 23 cm. Vol. I, 593 pp. [Index of Names. General Index]. Vol. II, 598 pp. [Index of Arms]. Vol. III, 706 pp. [General Index]. Vol. IV, 724 pp. [General Table of Errata]. Vol. V, 316 pp. [Index of Arms, Index of Names]. With the Supplement & The Account of Middlesex (493 pages) with nine plates, some folding. Index Names & Titles. General Index. Engraved vignette title in all volumes, engraved dedication leaf to the Earl of Oxford in Vol. I, engraved frontispiece map in Vols. I,II, and IV: 68 plates (3 colored), 5 folding plates, 2 folding tables, 1 folding plan: 94 plates in total. Horace Wolpole, Earl of Oxford, appointed him chaplain and encouraged him in this design. "Many of the illustrations accompanying the book were drawn and etched by the author. The whole forms a work of permanent value; the arrangement is clean and the style interesting; while the copious extracts from the parochial registers, though occasionally inaccurate, are useful to the biographer and genealogist. [see: DNB p.1262]. Raised bands, red morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, corners worn, bindings scuffed, scattered light to moderate foxing and plate offsetting. Supplement volume erroneously labeled Vol. V.
