Enku died in 1695. He was an itinerant Buddhist monk who traveled the countryside carving quick sculptures. His work is still all over the place in Japan. This book is a professional evaluation of the man, his religion and his art. 119 plates. first edition, so stated. the book is in fine condition. The dust jacket is also in excellent condition, but is price clipped, thus near fine.
