Hardback, 1903, first edition thus (texts reprinted with very slight alterations from the English Garner issued in eight volumes from 1877-1890), published by Archibald Constable and Co., Ltd., Westminster, London, 514 pages + xxxvi.
Octavo/8vo. Measures around 8 3/4" by 5 7/8" by 1 5/8". Blue-indigo cloth binding, gilt lettering spine. Discolouration to spine and edges of boards, with a little tearing to upper and lower edges of spine. Scuffing and marking, signs of shelf-wear, slightly bumped corners. Binding reasonably firm, though some strain to hinges and a little cracking to front inner hinge. Page edges a bit browned, scuffed and foxed. Previous owner bookplate to front pastedown, a little marking and foxing to preliminary and hindmost pages, the odd mark to page surfaces here and there but otherwise reasonably clean and there does not appear to be any underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
