Vol. I: xxiv, 484pp. Engraved portrait frontis., pull-out map of England, repaired with small piece of fabric tape to corner to rear of border, not affecting map, 4 plates showing the canal routes through England and Wales, an engraved comparative view of the principle mountains of Great Britain, (interestingly displaying Ben Macdui as the highest in Great Britain rather than Ben Nevis), large folding map of London which has been re-inforced with a cloth sticky-back, not affecting map, large folding map of the Metropolitan Boroughs, 24 county maps and two town plans, all present as listed and engraved and decorated + one extra plate of Canterbury Cathedral that is not mentioned in the list. Vol. II: 582pp. Engraved frontis. + 24 engraved county maps and 2 engraved city plans. Both volumes uniformly bound in full brown calf gilt, with a blind tooled border and a gilt border, outer edges of bds. gracefully tooled in blind, contrasting lettering pieces, leather very sound but sl. scuffed, very professionally rebacked with original spines laid down, marbled endpapers and edges, hinges re-inforced with cloth strip. Some occ. foxing not affecting plates. A clean and sound set.
