Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1880. Here is the last novel, a romance, published by Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881), noted as Victoria's favorite Prime Minister but also a popular novelist. He was created Earl in 1876. This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition. Decorative red cloth binding with heraldic decorations in black and gilt. Gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 477 pages, with two pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Very bright and unfoxed; easily read. Floral endpapers. There is a faint penciled signature, and the remains of what appears to have been a newspaper clipping regarding "Endymion"on the front paste-down. The previous-owner has made occasional. really unobtrusive, notes in the text. Laid into page 363 is an interesting contemporary clipping regarding the possible plagiarism by the author from Irving's "Annals of Our Time.". There is bumping and rubbing at the margins.
