About This Item
Los Angeles County Board Of Supervisors, Los Angeles, circa 1974; Square octavo, 40 pages; no p.d. (circa 1974); photo illustrated. A history of the old Los Angeles Hall Of Records, and the development of the new Civic Center complex of the 1970’s which replaced it. Designed by architects Hudson and Munsel, the Old Hall was completed in 1911 and sat atop "Pound Cake Hill" at the corner of Temple and Broadway where it served as seat of government for both city and county for fifty years. Beautifully illustrated with period photographs, including photos of the venerable old red sandstone City Hall built in 1891, pride of the city until it was destroyed by earthquake in 1933. Very Good, in card wraps which have some surface staining. Internally clean and bright, pages crisp, corners sharp, no chips or tears. Scarce.
