Originally published in 1903, a few years after the success of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, this juvenile fantasy novel was largely overshadowed by the success of Baum's Oz series. Newly illustrated by acclaimed artist and graphic novelist George O'Connor, this edition brought this wonderful tale to a new generation of readers. Baum's story of a beautiful young fairy who is magically transformed into a gallant prince for just one year and sets out on an incredible journey filled with daring and exciting exploits, was an early example of Baum's interest in playing with genders.
