A signed history of Empire, the Colorado mountain town which is near the eastern end of the Continental Divide-crossing Berthoud Pass. Author Louise C. Harrison tells the town's story from the early mining days through more modern times with such advancements as the building of US Highway 40 over the pass. Included are several black & white photos, including at endpapers. Inscribed and signed on front free endpaper by the author. --- In full purple cloth-covered boards with spine titling in gilt. Volume wrapped in yellow jacket with wrap-around drawing ot the Empire area and the highway.. --- A well-preserved copy: tightly-bound and unmarked, though with mild sunning to spine. Unclipped jacket ($7.95) also with light chafing to top edge (especially at head of spine), otherwise in good shape and in new removable archival mylar protector.
