Strasburg: Johann Frantz Le Roux, 1758. Hardcover. Good -. 288, 48 p.; 13 cm. Signatures: A-M12 A-B12 (12mo). Contemporary full calf with five spine compartments between raised bands. Gilt-tooled title in second compartment; gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Andächtige Ubungen und Gebetter, zu Verehrung des Hochwürdigen Sacraments Währender Bett-Stund has special title page. Each page printed within double-rule border; woodcut headpieces and tailpieces. Former owner's name on front free endpaper: Jonas E. Miller. An extremely scarce German-language prayerbook published in Strasburg for Catholics in Alsace--no records for any edition prior to the 1764 edition have been located. In Good- Condition: lacking leather from the edges of the back board, the tail of the spine, and, most significantly, the lower edge of the front board; cocked; lacking upper corner of pp. 143-144 with no loss of text; finger soiling, heavy on some pages; old dampstain on a few pages. A solid copy of a very rare Catholic prayerbook.
