Trivial wear & soil; one signature slightly sprung, but binding overall solid. ; Ex- Pacific Union Club library with their bookplate tipped-in; inscription on front endpaper: "Presented to the Pacific Union Club Library by Mr. Eugene Lent, June 1924. Green cloth, spine lettered in gilt; portrait frontis with tissue guard. No other library treatments save small call numbers on verso of title page, one in pencil, one in pen. [Cowan II, p. 28]; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 336 pages; Edward Dickinson Baker (1811-1861) , English-born politician who defeated Lincoln for congress in 1844, and served in the Mexican War before moving to California, where he became a prominent lawyer and public speaker. .
