About This Item

London: Hamish Hamilton, 1984. 1st. hardback. Very good, 1st edition with unclipped d/j in wrapper, grey boards clean, gilt titling on spine bright, pages bright and crisp, unmarked, binding good. Provenance: Prof Bill Trowbridge OBE, engineer and physicist, one of founders of computational electromagnetics (plate on front pastedown). 8vo: royal (250 x 170 / 10"" x 6_""). Eliot had left instructions that his biography should never be written, Peter Ackroyd received no help or assistance from those who knew him best including Eliot's widow. However when he began to search what was availbabe he found a mountain of letters and other material in Englend and America and from this he has been able to to assemble a much fuller account of Eliot's long and many sided life than has ever been revealed before.
