Signed by him @ front, lower, turn in. . 33x26(cm), Pp.254. Sophia's son became UK's George I. Printed on Japanese vellum paper. Two identical frontis, one of which in color. Most plates printed in two states, both w tissue guards, one captioned. Pastedowns & both sides of first & last 2 leaves marbled. Elaborate gilt turn ins of 2 rows of dentils separated by 4 ruled or dotted lines. Both covers identically gilt decorated. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Covers framed with linear floral design & double ruling, this duplicated but reversed an inch inside. Inside this a more elaborate floral design. Spine w 5 raised, gilt ruled, ribs. 2nd panel gilt lettered author/title. Other panels w corner fleur de lis, inside which a double ruled rectangle with a floral design inside that. The bkplts of Bernard Vincent Mahony inside front & backcovers. Other than these 3 bkplts a pristine book. Cover tips & spine ends with no hint of rubbing or scuffing, let alone actual wear. Gilt edged top edge as bright & shiny as new. Other edges are deckled with not even a hint of soiling or foxing. Truly a spectacular copy. .
