About This Item

Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.: Warner Books Inc, 1994. 17th Printing . Trade Paperback. Very Good/18.50. 4 1/2" X 6 . 179 Pages. There is slight bend to the front corner, small stain lower page edges. Dust jacket like flaps not usually found on soft back books. Lightman's novel takes the young Einstein through imaginary dreams that explore the various possibilities of the nature of time, in 1905, as he finishes his monumental work on Special Theory of Relativity. This novel explores the content of his dreams during those last pivotal months. We share his dreams in these 30 little fables about places where time behaves quite differently. In one world, time is circular; in another a man is occasionally plucked from the present and deposited in the past. There is no plot in this small volume--it's more like a poetry collection than a novel. Lightman teaches physics and writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and this is his first novel.
