About This Item

Ballantine Books. Softcover. Very Good. Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World" (ISBN: 9780345527271): "Eighty Days" by Matthew Goodman recounts the remarkable and true story of Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland, two pioneering female journalists who embarked on a history-making race around the world in 1889. In an era when such a journey was considered daring and nearly impossible for women, Bly and Bisland set out on their respective journeys in opposite directions. Bly, an investigative journalist, aimed to beat the fictional record set by Jules Verne's Phileas Fogg, while Bisland, a literary writer, sought to circumnavigate the globe in a more leisurely fashion. Goodman's narrative provides a thrilling account of their adventures, the challenges they faced, and the global attention their race garnered. "Eighty Days" offers a fascinating glimpse into the pioneering spirit of these two women and the historical context of their extraordinary journey. Crisp, clean, unread book with some shelfwear/edgewear. May have remainder marks, often with a black dot or similar mark, to the top or bottom edge of the book.
