Rebacked red half cloth over gray boards with black lettering on cover. Frontispiece color lithograph. Quibell and F. Ll. Griffith both were pupils of Flinders Petrie, the English Egyptologist and pioneer of systematic methodology in archaeology. These reports of their excavations of the Ramesseum and the Tomb of Ptah-Hetep are illustrated with 43 plates, including the color lithograph frontispiece of Saqqara, Ptah-Heteps son, b/w photographs depicting archaeological finds from tombs, measured drawings, and drawings depicting the motifs and inscriptions in the Ramesseum and the tomb of Ptah-Hetep. Six of the plates from the tomb of Ptah-Hetep are double-page. Sccarabs and cartonage, etc. at the Ramesseum are reproduced on pates XXX and XXX.A. Binding with library sticker at spine, library barcode and decorative sticker of the London Library St. James's Square on cover. Wear along edges of binding, small chips and heavily rubbed. Two library bookplates and stamps on inside front cover, incl. London Library, and library pocket and numeric stamp on free back endpaper. Reinforced with library tape at gutters at front and back inside covers. Library stamps on top and bottom edges. Block with light age-toning. Binding in overall good-, interior in good to good+, plates in very good condition.
