About This Item
1887 HUGE 1st ed EGYPT Illustrated ENORMOUS Egyptian ART Egyptology 2v Ebers
George Ebers was a 19th-century German historian known almost exclusively for his accounts of Egypt and Egyptian history. His book, simply known as 'Egypt', helped popularize Egyptian lore throughout Europe and America. This work is beautifully illustrated with impressive, full-page engravings of Egyptian royalty, architecture, cities, and Arab culture.
This rare, first English edition was translated out of the original German by Clara Bell with an introduction and notes by S. Birch, the keeper of the Department of Oriental Antiquities in the British Museum.
