Edward F Lydall, the earlier owner of this book, enjoyed a distinguished career in the Indian Civil Service, including involvement in earthquake relief operations. 8vo; original rust-coloured boards, lettered in metalllic red to spine; laminated pictorial dustwrapper; pp. xi + (i) + 339, incl. index; plates. Dustwrapper a bit edgeworn, slightly creased, and sunned on spine panel. Very good condition. "A revealing and memorable portrait of a complex and fascinating character, as well as a striking picture of the society to which he gave his name. Edward VII is exceptionally well illustrated with contemporary photographs, mostly from the royal collections and here reproduced for the first time." .
