1735. Fine. Handwritten parchment indenture (32 x 56 cm.). Ornate, armorial initial letter with motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense" in the garter. On Jan. 30, 1735, Edmund Deane of Greenwich, Kent Co., carpenter, transfers to William Deane of Deptford, Kent Co., distiller, one third of a property called Hockenden in the parish of St. Mary Cray, Kent Co., late occupied by William Hawes, deceased, and now occupied by his widow. It contains a house, barn, stable, carthouse, yard, garden, 3 orchards, and 4 parcels of arable land of about 8 acres. Signed by Edmund Deane with his seal. Blue 6 penny stamp in margin. Signed by witnesses Nicolas Stevens and John Cater on the reverse. In Fine Condition: clean and crisp.
