apud Stephanum Et Fratris Sabios, May 1531, Veronae (Verona), 1531. Early Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Full leather binding with simple blind decoration, Dulled gilt lettering "Verona 1531" and decoration on the banded spine, missing spine-label. Both covers are well worn with loss at corners and spine-ends, front cover is detached, leather on rear joint is wholly split and leather over rear cover is lifting at split. Inner front cover has purple stamp from Ampleforth Abbey, a small pasted label and a short reference number in pencil, the paper underneath is darkened and stained. Title page is darkened and also stained at the edges. Block edges are red which is darkened. First page of text has decorated header and first paragraph in red. Pages are bright and text is clear. There are some underlinings against some text in black ink which has faded to brown and occasional notes ( in Latin or Greek) in the margins in the same ink. Pagination: Nothing before Greek and Latin title-page; introduction/ dedication in Latin and Greek [7]; contents in Greek [6] -first gathering containing title introduction/dedcation and contents is detached -; text 152; printing details [1]; frep [3]. Pages are numbered on obverse of pages, reverso pages are not numbered (each page number refers to both sides of a sheet thus body of text contains 152 double sided pages (304)). There are Printer's pagination errors so pages are numbered: 1-96, 90, 100, 99, 100, 101, 102, 96, 104, 105, 105, 107-111, 111, 113-139, [1]. Ioannis Taleinos Mona- 141-142, [4], 147-148, 143, 150, [2], printing details; frep [3]. Text at top of next page has been checked with leading text at lower edge of previous page and all pages of text are present and bound in correct order. Text is in Latin and Greek.
