The main part of the book is made up of 674 specimens, classified according to the nature of the mates. A diagram at the top of each page shows the type of mate which is worked into the positions following on that page, enabling the reader to see how different composers treat the same theme. Included are direct mates of varying lengths, self-mates, various Fairy problems and composed end games.
