Berlin & New York: Mouton de Gruyter. 1995. Small Quarto Size [approx 17.5cm x 24cm]. Very Good condition. Inscribed by the author on half-title page (first name only). xiii, 343 pages. Was first published anonymously in 1770. The text presents events from the gospels from a rationalist point of view - depicting Jesus as normal human being. It was of course banned. In 1799 George Houston translated it into English. Little of d'Holbach's work survives in print and this is the first critical edition of an English translation.
