"Fifth Edition, Corrected and Augmented, and three usefull Indexes added." Small quarto (20cm.); full 19th century parchment, maroon gilt-lettered spine, all edges stained red, later marbled endpapers; [8],256,[2],257-350,[38],57,[1],58,[3]pp. ([*]4 A-3B4 3C2 A-H4). Minor dust-soil to boards, corners gently bumped, textblock uniformly toned, 19th century ownership signature and 20th century ownership rubberstamp to front flyleaf, contemporary ownership signature to title page, else Very Good, internally clean and sound.
Compilation of three titles (see below) of historiography compiled from the papers of the late Mathias Prideaux (1622-1646?) to which is appended his father John Prideaux's work "Synopsis of Councels" (title page dated 1671). Each title issued with a separate title page, though only the final work has separate pagination. The latter two works in this volume by Mathias Prideaux include: "Of Political History in General, deduced from Nimrod" (title page dated 1669); and "Of the History of Successions, in states, countries, and families" (title page dated 1670).
