The text is illustrated with 24 maps. Light blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt and black coloured embossed illustration to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Pale pink coloured tint to the top text edge. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and orange coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear dustwrapper panel. In this book the author looks at the East and the West and how they came to differ, how to be in conflict conflict, and, possible outcomes of centuries of contact. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges and bumping of the book corners. Sunning and some faint foxing to the back strip light age toning of the text block edges and pages. Offset tanning and foxing to the end pages and there is a gift inscription to the free front end page. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges with tears to the back strip edges. Sunning of the back strip with rubbing, marking and stains to the dustwrapper. Browning and foxing to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [12], 13 - 290 pages,.
