About This Item

Camden, Maine: International Marine Publishing Company (1978) . Here is a practical study of ocean passage-making, using a cruise across the Atlantic as a case history. The book tells of a cruise in the Ohlson 38 sloop "Kelpie" from Gibson Island, Maryland to Fayal in the Azores in the late spring and early summer in 1975. The family had kept detailed records of their plans and preparations for the passage, and that material, combined with journals kept by each member of the family at sea, was assembled and analyzed and has become a book that can be described as a combination "How-We-Did-It" and "How-To-Do-It". It is well illustrated by figures and photos. This is Richard Henderson's tenth book on sailing. Deep blue cloth boards....gilt title print to spine. No ownership markings. Soiling to fore edge and one corner bumped to rear board. Map endpapers to front. Photo dust jacket. A sound, square copy.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good.
