Chicago, A. Flanagan, 1890, 1890. Hardcover. Fair/No Dj. 12 mo., vintage hardcover from 1800's, red boards with black lettering. A few white spots on cover, hinges broken else good reading copy. A rare book. Frontis is b & w woodcut of warrior in full metallic garb raising his sword over a river (presumably the Amazon). Begins with Leif Erickson, 986, then Columbus, 1492, northwest passage, Spaniards entering Mexico, conquest of Peru, New France, English explorers, Captain John Smith, Henry Hudson, the pilgrims, settling the Mississippi, the Quakers, Indians and colonists, and more. A very old and interesting history book.
