About This Item

New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1982. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Very good. Presentation copy, inscribed on the half-title by Rupert Pole, the second husband of Anaïs Nin, as well as her literary executor, to Jean Sherman, who translated several posthumous works by Nin, including Linotte (1978): "For Jean who again helped with this volume. The first diary in English. Anaïs' transformation from girl to woman... the beginning of the artist/woman conflict. With love, Rupert, Jan. 1983."

An extraordinary journal of self-education and self-discovery, disclosing a part of Nin's life that has hitherto remained private.

Octavo: xvi, 541 p. with textual photographs. Original pink paper-covered boards over a mauve cloth spine, with silver titles. A crisp, unread copy. The dust jacket lightly faded along the spine, with a tiny stain to the bottom edge of the front panel and a minor crease to the front flap; else very good or better.
