London & New York: Macmillan & Co. Ltd. St. Martin's Press, 1957. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Malcolm Pride. The interior of the book is clean and tight, with just a few signs of previous use. There is a presentation label to a former owner (Young Canada's Book Week, 1958), but no other marks or damage The green cloth covers are fresh, with light rubs at edges and corners. The dust jacket is in Fair condition, with moderate wear, including several short tears, a nick of paper missing from the bottom of the front panel, and fraying at the top and bottom of the spine. These faults should be visible in the attached scan. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Set in Scotland in the early middle ages. "Niall, a Scottish fisher boy, wanted to help his young friend , Brian, who had lost his power of speech as a result of a terrible experience and had been adopted by the villagers. Niall knew that if anyone could make Brian speak again it was surely Columba, head of the Celtic monastery on the isle of Iona.
