Verpilleux, London: The Studio, 1927.Quarto, pp. 6, 10 plates with color prints tipped in, illustrated boards, bookplate on free front endpaper. Emile Antoine Verpilleux, in spite of the French-sounding name, was a British artist specializing in woodcut printing. Some of his best-known work is here, including St. Paul's From Cheapside and St. Pancras Railway Station. The publisher calls the process used here, Blackmore Tintex, "a new method unique the the history of colour printing." With intro by Salaman.Condition of this book:Backstrip gone, covers weakly attached, prints fine but one has come unglued from its plate. Size: Quarto. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
