Godkin (1831-1902) was an American journalist and newspaper editor, and founder of The Nation. Godkin's opposition to Republican Party nominee James G. Blaine in 1884 did much to create the Mugwump Party. Contains information on Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, and Theodore Roosevelt (who questioned Godkin's patriotism).
