Original blue cloth boards minimally flecked and bumped. Mildly acidic (browned) endpapers, an indecipherable pencil signature on ffep. Untrimmed textblock has had several crudely slit leaves on foredge and head. First published in 1896 and rare in any edition, this book comprises six lectures "delivered in the Inner Temple during the Hilary Sittings, 1896, at the request of the Council of Legal Education." Includes Preface, 6 'lectures'. Born in 1850, Augustine Birrell died in 1933. Book weight approx. 340g. Postage charge will be reduced as this item will post under 500g. packed weight.
