Papered boards a little bumped at the extremities; top edge lightly foxed; a very good copy with the unclipped dustwrapper a little sunned on the spine, and slightly rubbed and bumped on the corners. The title page is signed by the author, the first person to win the Booker Prize twice (in 1983 and 1999); he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2003. J.M. Coetzee's first published work of fiction, comprising two novellas, 'The Vietnam Project' and 'The Narrative of Jacobus Coetzee'.
Synopsis
Dusklands (1974) is the first novel by J. M. Coetzee, winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature. It is a presentation and critique of the violence inherent in the colonialist and imperialist mentality of the Western world. The novel actually consists of two separate stories. The first one, "The Vietnam Project", relates the gradual descent into insanity of its protagonist Eugene Dawn. Eugene works for a U.S. government agency responsible for the psychological warfare in the Vietnam War.
