About This Item

Cleveland: The Rowfant Club, 1926. Original marbled boards (hardcover) with printed label, in the scarce glassine jacket, original dark-blue chemise and slipcase. (8" x 4 3/4"). In a note regarding the design of this book Rogers wrote: "In planning these little decorations for Kipling's amusing fish tale, the color scheme was suggested by my recollection of moon-rises behind the pollard willows along the Cam, in the fens between Cambridge and Ely. One evening a stray red calf ran up and down the bank in the sunset light, bawling for company." (Blumenthal, Bruce Rogers p.96). A fine copy in slipcase and chemise showing light wear, glassine jacket with two closed tears on front panel and some chipping. A collectable and desirable copy of a scarce Kipling work. Size: Octavo. First Edition.. Cloth. Fine. Octavo. Private Press.
