With illustrations by Elaine Rafael and Don Bolognese. Includes a portrait of Balzac by Roy Andersen near front of volume. Issued as an entry in the publisher's Collected Stories of the World's Greatest Writers series. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. --- Bound in rich full burgundy bonded leather covers with three raised bands on spine. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers. Brown silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon bookmark. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A Near Fine copy but with a scratch and slight loss of gilding to textblock top edge, very slight sunning to edges of moire endpapers; otherwise lacking damages or evidence of having been read.; Octavo (8 to 9 in. tall); (12), 424 pages .
