About This Item

Todd Publishing Group, Ltd, London, 1952. Reprint. Buckram. Very Good Condition/Good. The Fabulous Peter Cheyney -- pages 7 through to 42. Beige coloured cloth covered boards with ochre coloured titles to the backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with white titles to the front panel and backstrip. This book was first published in 1945 under the title of "Night Club", but due to war rationing of paper only a small run was printed. This major reprint of this book was published under the author's original title of "Dressed to Kill" and was printed just prior to his contracting an illness and dying in 1951. Mario Zona was frightened and thought he was slated for murder. He hired Rufus Gaunt, a private investigator, to find out who was thinking of doing so; the the list was long -- Meralda Grey -- the beautiful nightclub singer, her fiance Michael Lorimer, Zona's secretary -- Wolfe Lanel and even the cigarette girl Geraldine could not be dismissed. Bumping and rubbing to the backstrip corners and rubbing to the book corners. Foxing and rubbing to the top and bottom book edges. The spine is cocked. A few stains and handling marks to the book panels. Browning to the text block edges and to the internal text. Offset caning and very faint foxing to the endpapers. Original bookseller's stamp to the lower left-hand corner of the free front end paper and previous owners name to the top left-hand corner of the same page. Chipping to the backstrip edges and to the dustwrapper corners. There is a hole in the backstrip panel, 3 inches from the lower edge, which itself measures 1" x 1". From that tear the rear spine gutter has come away from the backstrip panel. The dustwrapper ins rubbed, slightly stunned and shows handling marks. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). (6), 7-200 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Crime Fiction; Fiction -- Crime; Inventory No: 0111432. .
