Shigemoto, 1894 Set of Seven Japanese Painting and Calligraphy Albums of the work of Kono Bairei, Kyoto (1844-1895) containing over 100 colored double page woodblock printed plates of flowers, animals, landscapes, Japanese life and other subjects. The prints contained in seven Orihon folding albums each with green brocade covers and printed title labels, the albums printed by Chinzei, published by Shigemoto. Housed in worn folding cover. Front cover loose, edges worn. Printed paper label front cover. Bairei was one of the most famous painters of his generation. He studied under Nakajima Raisho of the Maruyama School and Shiokawa Bunrin, a landscape painter of the Shijo School. He left a large number of follers who have carried his traditions to the present day. This is one of his finest books Individual books in the Japanese Accordian fold format.. 1st Edition. Hardcover.
