His young widow Tess did . not believe he had taken his life because they had quarreled so she has come to North Dobney far out on Cape Cod to investigate & meets antagonism from their friends among the artists, winter residents & natives. Soon Tess' uneasy suspicion that it had been murder becomes a conviction. The author writes in a red & white Cape Cod cottage that looks serene but people inside are dying violently ever day of the week. Her two mystery-writing daughters live with her. Heavy edge wear, library markings, crease on spine. .
