Photographic Image. Good. Hardcover. 1930s-1958. PHOTO & SCRAPBOOK ALBUM-- Rural America and 'The Don Hopkins Story'. 50 pp. 12"x 14.5". 'A boy's life' and rural Oklahoma in 1930s-50s-- the 'circle of life' in snapshots & mementos. The life of an American boy to manhood - from youth to high school, service in the Air Force, marriage and the birth of a child. Album photos & ephemera prominently feature the years of high school-- photos of football, baseball, bowling league, band practice, parades, stock-car races. There are cards of congratulation addressed to Don Hopkins, and photos of Don as a youngster playing guitar & trumpet (tipped in with a Valentine card from his father (Don Hopkins Sr.) "....Grandma tells me what swell music you can play. Boy howdy, you just keep that up for I am rearing to hear some of that swell music..." In 1950, after HS graduation, Don Hopkins enlisted in the Air Force. In 1951, he and his high school sweetheart, Edith Ann Roberts, marry; in the 1950s, they are photographed holding their own child. Photos & mementos from Oklahoma: family & friends/ sport portraits/ newspaper mentions/ band photos/ individual pics & group photos of friends at school/ reports cards & school programs/ Don Hopkin's draft card & military pay stubs. In nice condition - with decorative cover stamped 'Snaps and Scraps'. The album appears to have been neatly repaired. Domestic s/h $15..
