James R. Osgood, 1871. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Bookplate of author and noted collector, Frederick Skiff, affixed to front pastedown. Small paper edition. Plum pebbled cloth, beveled edges, gilt decoration on front panel. The spine ends are rubbed, with abrasions and loss on the crown, is some soiling to spine, there are stains on the spine, and the strip is faded with the lettering just barely readable. The text leaves are gently toned and the book is over opened before the title page.
