About This Item
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Delacorte Press, 1976. Bound in full black cloth, stamped in red and gold red endpapers professionally restored and book tightened. The dust jacket is the true first state with the $7.95 price and the 0975 date on the rear panel. Minor wear to spine ends of jacket and the spine is darkened a bit. Also, an archival tape repair to bottom of rear flap. All of this sounds a lot worse than it is and it is one of Yates' scarcest first editions. 278 pp.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good ++.
Synopsis
A native New Yorker, Richard Yates was born in 1926; his first novel, Revolutionary Road , was a finalist for the National Book Award (in the same year as The Moviegoer and Catch-22 ). Much admired by peers, he was known during his lifetime as the foremost fiction writer of the post-war "age of anxiety." He published his last novel in 1986, and died in 1992.
