London: W. Johnston and J. Dodsley, 1769. Full Leather. Good binding. Octavo. Vol I: [20], xlii, [6], 443; II: [10], 516; III: [6], 450; IV: [6], 493, [3] pp. First edition. In contemporary marbled calf with spines tooled in gold and morocco title and volume labels; deaccessioned society library with book plate on each front pastedown; contemporary ink number on the first blank of each volume and paper shelf label at the top of each spine. The leather at the joints are starting to separate, all cover remain fairly stable; minor chipping to the spine ends; rubbing to the corners; contents are clean but for some occasional toning. Despite the limited wear, the set presents very nicely. Subscribers list in Volume I; per ESTC, the title page of Volume II is dated 1768. ESTC T136969.
